A heat pump moves heat rather than burning fuel to make it, which is why it works so well in the Lower Mainland's mild coastal climate. One piece of equipment handles heating in winter and cooling in summer, and it is the technology BC's rebate programs are built around.

CleanBC Better Homes, Canada Greener Homes, FortisBC, and the income-qualified program, explained in one guide.
Rebate GuideEfficiency is rated in SEER2 for cooling and HSPF2 for heating. The American Standard heat pumps we install run from 14 SEER2 and 7.8 HSPF2 up through the Ultimate line at over 20 SEER2 and 9 HSPF2. We match the rating to your home rather than defaulting to the largest unit on the shelf.
Our technicians carry parts, refrigerants, and diagnostic tools for residential and light-commercial systems from the brands deployed most widely across the Lower Mainland:
If your heat pump is from a brand not listed here, call anyway. Our technicians diagnose most systems regardless of badge.
Several provincial and federal programs help offset the cost of a heat pump when you are moving off a fossil-fuel heating system. CleanBC Better Homes, FortisBC utility rebates, Canada Greener Homes, and income-qualified programs all appear regularly on Burnaby and Metro Vancouver quotes, and some of them stack.
Eligibility and amounts depend on the equipment installed, your existing fuel source, your home's pre-installation efficiency assessment, and the program rules in effect on the day your installation is scheduled. We do not promise a specific rebate amount before we know those rules, and we do include the documentation each program requires from a qualified contractor. Our BC heat pump rebate guide walks through each program in detail.
