Maple Furnace serves Abbotsford, BC from our Burnaby shop on Merritt Ave, east along Highway 1 into the Fraser Valley. We repair, maintain and install furnaces, heat pumps, boilers, and gas fireplaces across the city, from the established streets of Clearbrook to the newer homes on Sumas Mountain and the farmland in between.
Abbotsford is the largest city in the Fraser Valley. It took its current shape in 1995, when the District of Abbotsford and the District of Matsqui joined, and it runs from the Fraser River in the north to the US border in the south. Clearbrook and the historic downtown hold many established homes with mid-efficiency gas furnaces, Auguston and Eagle Mountain climb the lower slopes of Sumas Mountain with newer high-efficiency systems, and Matsqui, Bradner, and Mount Lehman are acreage and farm country with larger heating loads.
Abbotsford is one of our longer drives, so call ahead to book. Our certified technicians cover furnace repair, furnace installation, heat pump installation, heat pump repair, boiler repair, boiler installation, gas fireplace service, and annual maintenance for Abbotsford homes.

Abbotsford's housing changes a lot between the city centre, the mountain slopes and the farmland, and so does the heating work.
The large established area in west-central Abbotsford, built out mostly from the 1960s through the 1980s with ranchers, split-levels and townhouse complexes. Many homes still run mid-efficiency gas furnaces through original ductwork, which makes them strong candidates for a furnace replacement or a heat pump conversion.
The original town centre around Essendene Avenue and the streets near Mill Lake Park hold some of the city's oldest houses. Older furnaces, the occasional hydronic boiler and gas fireplaces all need regular service here.
Family neighbourhoods east of the city centre toward Sumas Mountain, mostly detached homes on standard lots with forced-air furnaces. As the first high-efficiency furnaces in these homes age, repair-or-replace decisions and heat pump upgrades are the common calls.
Newer hillside communities on the lower slopes of Sumas Mountain. Homes here usually run high-efficiency furnaces or heat pumps, so the work leans toward warranty-period maintenance, and the higher ground sees sharper cold snaps, which makes cold-climate heat pump sizing matter.
North Abbotsford along the Fraser River, across from Mission. Farmhouses and rural homes here carry larger heating loads, and some still rely on propane or oil.
Rural-residential acreage in the west of the city toward the Langley border, with larger detached homes and outbuildings. These are the properties where a heat-loss calculation matters most before choosing a furnace, boiler or heat pump.
Abbotsford summers run hotter and its winters colder than the coast, which suits a heat pump that heats and cools from one system, as long as it is sized for the cold snaps.
Heat pump rebates in Abbotsford: provincial CleanBC Better Homes rebates and FortisBC programs can apply when you switch to a heat pump. Our BC heat pump rebate guide explains the programs, and we help confirm what is likely to apply to your home.
Hydronic boilers still heat some of Abbotsford's older homes and farmhouses. We repair, service and replace gas and electric boilers, including Viessmann, Navien, Rinnai, Triangle Tube, Weil-McLain and Super Hot.
A gas fireplace makes a useful second heat source during a Fraser Valley cold snap. Our gas fireplace service covers safety inspections, burner cleaning, thermocouple replacement, glass cleaning, and new indoor and outdoor installations, and our gas line installation service handles relocations and wood-to-gas conversions.
Abbotsford sits inland in the central Fraser Valley, away from the ocean's moderating effect. Winters bring colder nights and more snow than Vancouver, especially on Sumas Mountain, and arctic outflow winds down the valley can drive the wind chill well below what the coast sees. Summers run hotter: Abbotsford recorded some of the highest temperatures in the Lower Mainland during the June 2021 heat dome.
That swing is why sizing matters here. A furnace or heat pump sized with a heat-loss calculation for the cold snaps, rather than matched to the old unit's label, keeps the house comfortable in January and in July.
